Each afternoon we divided the trainees into groups of 4 or 5 so each could have a turn practice-teaching a lesson. Birhanu was one of the seven who absorbed the training well enough to begin teaching others right away when it was over.

We had a "shofro" break mid-morning. Shofro is a hot drink made from coffee shells. It has a coffee flavor with less caffeine, and the Banna-Hamer people find it very refreshing. Boiled corn and (dry) beans make a nice snack to go with it.

We held our second Banna tutor training in Turmi, 3 hours's drive south of Alduba. I grieved for the women in Turmi, who wear iron “necklaces”, carry heavy loads of wood, and show in their faces their need for the light of the Gospel.
